Around 10 years ago, Cocoon Creations submitted a client’s app to the Apple App Store. It was rejected for containing “irrelevant content.” That was it. No useful explanation of what the irrelevant content was or where we should look for it.
We spent days trying to figure it out. Eventually, we found the problem. In one of the screenshots submitted with the app, there was a photograph. Somewhere in the background, a person was holding an Android phone.
That was the “irrelevant content.” We removed it. Problem solved.
Today, we’d spot something like that almost instantly.
Years ago, when iBeacons were the next big thing, Apple repeatedly rejected an app because of how we combined iBeacons with location services. We knew the functionality couldn’t be achieved any other way. We happened to discuss it with Apple engineers at a conference. A week later, Apple called us. We were right, and they changed the rule.
Cocoon Creations has been building, publishing and maintaining mobile apps since 2012.
